Florence Wu, Ph.D. is founder and President of AEMTEK laboratories. For more than 18 years, AEMTEK has been providing analytical services to help clients to ensure food safety, water quality, and environmental health. After graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1991 with a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in botany with focus on mycology, Dr. Wu worked in an academic research institution for nine years and conducted a National Science Foundation project as the Principle Investigator. In 2002, Dr. Wu founded AEMTEK lab with the purpose to provide high quality analytical services to industrial hygienists. Since its beginning, AEMTEK has been accredited by AIHA environmental microbiology lab accreditation program. Over the past 17 years, AEMETK has grown into serving multiple industries with microbiological analysis and research. Dr. Wu is the inventor of several patent-pending sampling device and testing methods. She has designed, supervised and conducted numerous pathogen detection, spoilage and contamination investigations, indoor environmental testing, and air sampling projects. She assisted clients in their microbial contamination control, risk assessment, and product development. Dr. Wu has accumulated over 30 years’ experiences in studies of fungi and bacteria and over 20 years of managing an independent contract laboratory. She is the author of one book, several book chapters and many peer-reviewed publications on subjects that include microbial examination, DNA sequencing, PCR and culture based analytical methods, new fungal species discovery, fungal phylogeny and biogeography. Dr. Wu lectured in many training workshops on the topics of environmental monitoring, foodborne pathogens, biohazards, airborne microorganism sampling and testing, fungal identification and enumeration, microbial contamination investigation.
